Risk management and security is a priority to Vale. In response, Vale in New Caledonia has implemented a three-pronged approach :
- Identify and anticipate risks in the design and throughout the commissioning of facilities;
- Risk prevention on a daily basis ;
- Develop response capabilities to mitigate potential impacts in case of occurrence of risks.
Identify and anticipate risks
Scenarios of incidents and accidents are defined. For each of them , the causes and severity, probability of occurrence , prevention measures associated consequences and measures to limit these consequences are established.
Beyond its statutory obligations, Vale in New Caledonia has developed additional tools for knowledge and analysis of its risks.
