Vale Inco Nouvelle-Calédonie becomes Vale Nouvelle-Calédonie

As from today, Vale Inco Nouvelle-Calédonie is taking the name Vale Nouvelle-Calédonie.
This name change constitutes the logical culmination of Inco's progressive integration into the Vale Group since 2006. Vale Nouvelle-Calédonie will retain invaluable technological know-how from Inco, due to which it has been possible to conceive the hydro-metallurgy process for the benefit of New Caledonia’s industrial development.

Successful second campaign to commission the 1st line of autoclaves for the Grand Sud plant

Following the satisfactory results of the first performance test carried out on the first line of autoclaves
and production of the first intermediate nickel from nickel, on an industrial scale, on 15 February last, the
Grand Sud plant launched its second campaign to commission autoclaves dedicated to nickel and cobalt
production.

On 15 February, following the satisfactory results of the second performance tests carried out on the first line of autoclaves and the production of the first intermediary nickel product on an industrial scale, the Southern plant launched its second campaign to commission autoclaves for the production of nickel and cobalt.

A good news story from the Port of Prony

Vale Inco is working closely with local communities in New Caledonia to maximize the benefits of the nickel project in terms of employment, business opportunities, and community development.
From these efforts a new partnership has begun with the people of Ouen Island – Vale Inco Nouvelle-Calédonie’s closest neighbor. Ushering in an era of improved community relations and cooperation, 16 young people from the island are coming to work at Vale Inco in the port of Prony to pilot small ships coming in and out of Prony Bay.
Before starting work, the youth are undergoing training sponsored by Vale Inco at the School of the Trades of the Sea from January 12 to February 27. Vale Inco Nouvelle-Calédonie is providing an adapted high-speed motorboat for the work that will also be made available for other uses for the benefit of Ouen Island residents.
