At Inco Nouvelle-Calédonie

Welcome to the official website for Vale Inco Nouvelle-Calédonie, a company based in the South of New Caledonia which extracts and processes nickel and cobalt.  VALE-Inco (Canada) has a majority shareholding in the company and also supplies technological support. 

The nickel and cobalt deposit in the Goro plateau is one of the largest in the world. Operations at the mining and industrial complex, which is currently under construction, will commence in phases in 2008. Inco has developed a very forward thinking technology for the processing of ore: this fourth generation hydrometallurgical process will make it possible to profitably process laterites with low nickel content at low cost, whilst reducing the impact on the environment. Vale Inco Nouvelle-Calédonie is a company with a strong sense of citizenship which takes seriously its environmental, social and economic responsibilities towards the people of New Caledonia and more specifically its factory’s neighbouring communities.
